I was born in a small village in China, where life was simple. We didn’t have the luxury of new clothes every year; a new outfit was a rare gift. There was a saying in our village: “Three years new, three years old, and another three years patched.”

Clothes were cherished. When they tore, they were stitched. When the holes grew too big, our mothers would lovingly sew on patches from whatever scraps they could find. Each patch was a quiet act of care, of strength, of making things last.

As times changed, so did the patches. They became playful—symbols sold in markets to express who we are: our teams, our beliefs, our uniqueness. They were no longer just about covering holes, but about identity.

That’s why I created iPatchU.
